Partners

A Partner is distinct from an Artist or a Participant.

While Artists are visible names on releases and Participants are creative contributors, Partners are legal contractual parties. Their profiles contain contact details, addresses, and banking information required for billing.

If a person is a Partner, Artist, and Participant, you must maintain three separate profiles, as each role serves a different function. This ensures error-free rights and contract management.

General

You set the type so the system knows your relationship to the partner. You can choose from:

  • Digital distributor like The Orchard or Fuga
  • Physical distributor, for example A.D.A. or Universal
  • Third party, which are licensors and licensees
  • Performance rights collecting society, such as PPL or GVL
  • Mechanical rights society like PRS or Gema
  • Distribution client, that are labels or rights holders for whom you act as a distributor

Enter the name, address, and other contact data. This information is necessary for automatic billing and correct payout of credits.

Finances

In the Finances tab, you enter all billing information: the bank account, PayPal address, payout method, VAT-ID and, if applicable, withholding tax rules. Thanks to the detailed data, the system can later fully automate payments and tax processes.

Tools

  • If you don't want the partner's name or code to be exposed within the royalty statements, enter an alias, e.g. Direct Marketing.
  • If you want another partner to be the issuer of statements for this Partner, select a Partner that should replace the default Company.
  • Activate rules for sell-off sales.
  • Set individual minimum transfer amounts for payouts.
  • Assign a custom Statement footer.
  • Mark Partners as inactive or visible only for Contracts.

Distributors and other business partners are also created as Partner. You can, for example, enter a distribution fee if a distributor's sale report only contains gross values and the system will automatically deduct this fee.
